The Way We Work

AYUDARE Water DRILLING

Is the first Spanish company established in Ethiopia. It is dedicated to the drilling of water wells, with a wide variety of solutions for your particular needs and for all sectors, including industrial, agricultural, livestock, construction, mining, government projects and NGO projects in Ethiopia.

OUR DRILLING SYSTEM – DTH

This compressed-air system consists of a hammer that is placed at the lower end of the drill-pipe, which combines percussion and rotary actions. The hammer strikes on the rock repeatedly on a rotational axis, turning between each strike to achieve a progressive deepening.

Waste is removed from the borehole by injecting compressed air through the rods that work the hammer, forcing out the debris and any water up to the surface through the borehole.

Advantages of roto-percussion:

  1. It can be used on all types of rock, from the softest to the hardest.
  2. It allows for a wide range of borehole diameters: 6, 8 and 12 inches.
  3. Its operation and maintenance is simple and fast, reducing costs.
  4. Considering its many advantages, it is suitable for:
      1. Drilling water wells.
      2. Underground public works: tunnels, waste dumps, roads, highways, industrial excavation, etc.
      3. Underground and surface mines.
      4. Research on hard and very hard materials.

DRILLING PHASES

01

Preparation phase:

Once the drilling area is determined, AYUDARE WATER DRILLING will:

Clean the area to be drilled.

Determination of verticality of machinery

Drilling of a first hole with a 12-inch hammer to establish a drilling base on unstable surfaces when protected by a metal pipe. A second drilling with an 8-inch hammer for the introduction of a 7-inch metal protection pipe in unconsolidated areas up to firm ground. Once the ground has been secured with the two previous boreholes, a 6-inch hammer will be used to drill to the height determined in the drilling study.

02

drilling phase:

This phase consists of drilling to the depth determined by the report with special attention to the types of materials that may be encountered according to the geological survey.

We will start by drilling a first hole, to determine a drilling base on unstable surfaces, unless the circumstances are such that this is not necessary. We will then drill a second hole to insert a metallic protective pipe, through unconsolidated surfaces, down to firm ground. Finally, we will drill down to the depth determined in the study. Throughout the process, all our drills are surrounded by protective metallic pipe in order to prevent debris from falling into the borehole, and we take utmost care to ensure perfect verticality of the borehole.

During the drilling, samples are taken to determine the most appropriate type of PVC pipe to be used. These pipes are then inserted into the borehole and secured by packed gravel.

03

review phase:

Once the hole has been drilled and the pipes have been inserterted, AYUDARE WATER DRILLING will conduct pumping tests to determine the optimum volume and speed of pumping.

Once completed, AYUDARE WATER DRILLING and the client will review together the work done. Finally, AYUDARE WATER DRILLING will test the flow, clean the area in order to leave the well in optimal conditions, and, finally, close the exposed end of the drill pipe.

MACHINERY

AYUDARE WATER DRILLING’s roto-percussion equipment is designed to be versatile. It is mounted on 4WD and 6WD trucks, which allow mobility in the most hostile terrain and under the most challenging conditions.

All of AYUDARE WATER DRILLING’s equipment is made in Spain and meets the most rigorous European standards, and is in perfect condition to be able to carry out our work with all the guarantees.
